A crocodile with a laid-back expression
The pale panel around the eyes sets off the small, sideways-looking pupils. Curved lines across the muzzle and two dark nostrils give the face definition without an open, tooth-filled mouth. From the side, the short legs and tapering tail carry that same unhurried feel. The range starts at 60 cm and extends to 230 cm, so there is a substantial difference between the smallest and largest crocodiles. A shorter version is easier to keep close while reading; a long version needs room for the snout and tail to extend. Measure the space where you want it to lie before choosing.
